Our New Puppy

Unfortunately, our dear sweet Andy-Panda passed away a few months ago.  Allie, out mixed terrier, has lost 3 "brothers" in the past 3 years.  We tried to let her be an "only pup" for a while and she just didn't seem like the same dog.  Her eating habits changed and she was more lethargic than normal.  Below is a picture of her with Andy:

Finding a new pup

We got Andy from Schnauzer Love Rescue, but after a few weeks of waiting for a suitable pup, we decided to contact the foster here in Memphis.  We told he what we were looking for, mainly a male dog under 8, but they didn't have anything available.  Many of the dogs on their site are more suited as being the only dog in a home.

Before we got Andy, we did look for AKC registered mini-schnauzer breeders in the area.  There was one breeder down in Byhalia, MS that had relatively decent prices that we had considered.  I contacted her and she had one male left from a recent litter.  We picked him up the next day. 

Adapting to a puppy

Allie is still adapting to the new puppy.  In all fairness, she has always been the smallest pup in the house, so she isn't sure how to play with a 2 pound puppy.   Fortunately, she has already started eating a bit better and she seems more like her old self.  I guess just having a companion at home with her during the day helps.

Obi-Little-Wan

While I am far from being the biggest Stars Wars fan, we felt compelled to name him after a character in the series after finding out he was born on May 4th.  

We thought about naming him Wicket, but it just doesn't roll off the tongue as easily as Obi.  Therefore, we are happy with the name Obi.

Photogenic

I am going try to take more pics so I have more photos of him over the years.  I first picked up a camera when we got Sammy, so this takes me back to my roots.  The fact that the iPhone is so much better these days than when I first started taking photos should make it a no-brainer.  He is my first picture of Sammy on Pbase from July, 2004:

Happiness is having a dog

For me, having two dogs just feels right.  I don't feel as guilty leaving for work in the morning when I know there are two warm bodies at home,  It will probably be a while before we can leave Obi out of his confined space during the day, but he is in a fenced area in the kitchen so Allie can still see him during the day (and vice versa).
