If you have read any of my other blog posts, you may know that I am a fan of headphones and that I own several pairs. The problem is that I wanted something wireless because I don't like dealing with headphone cable extensions.
The ClipR was the solution to my problem. It is a bluetooth device that you can plug your headphones into and make them wireless. It is very small (about the size of a silver dollar) and can be clipped to a shirt/pant and become pretty much unnoticed. Of course, my headphones have fairly long cords even without a cable extender, but I can just wrap up the extra cable and stick it in a pocket or place it out of the way.
I should mention that I also own Lifeproof cases for my iPhone and iPad and they require a special adapter to hook up directly to the headphone socket. This solves that issue by just pairing it with the iPad/iPhone and using it wireless instead.
The sound quality isn't as good as being hooked up directly to the device, but it is good enough for non-critical listening. You can adjust the volume, play, pause, and change tracks right from the ClipR. Pairing was as easy as holding down the center button and telling my iPhone to connect to it through the settings screen.
The ClipR came with a very short cable that makes it possible to connect to a radio with an Aux input (like my Tivoli PAL). I may actually buy an extra ClipR just for using with the Tivoli in my bathroom. Right now, I have a small bluetooth speaker that I use for music or podcasts while I get ready for work in the morning. With the ClipR, I could just connect it directly to my Tivoli and save some space on my vanity.
The ClipR also came with a very short USB cable. It did not have a power plug included, but I have several laying around for iPhones and iPads, so I just plugged into one of those.
I also made a call while wearing headphones. The quality on both ends is very good. Anyway, this really was the perfect answer to my needs.
