I was considering the purchase of one the Vitamix blenders and saw the Ninja on TV. I figured it could crush ice better than the Waring and I was right. The Vitamix may be better at some functions, but I would be surprised if it was better or faster at crushing ice into a drink, which was my most important requirement. Also, the idea of using a plunger in the kitchen, just didn't seem right.. I kid...I think Vitamix calls it a tapper. Since the Vitamix seems to be aimed at vegetarian drinks, I can see where the "tapper" would help push down leaves into the mixture. I doubt I will ever make these types of drinks, so it wasn't a requirement.
The Ninja is extremely loud. It reminded me of the month I had to drive my old car without a muffler while I was waiting for it to be delivered. Luckily, with the Ninja, I haven't had neighbors complaining like I did then! Also, I have to get used to the blade being able to be dislodged. I am so used to regular blenders, that I have nearly taken my hand off cleaning out the blender and having the blade fall out. The blender is HUGE. It is taller than my KithenAide mixer and barely fits under the cabinets. That being said, the blender cuts through ice like butter. It only runs for a few seconds before everything is crushed and blended.
The Mega System came with a couple single serve cups and a food processing bowl that also included a dough attachment. I have not tried them out, so I will review more thoroughly when I get around to it. However, I am very happy with the purchase.
Update: I am updating this review to mention that I have tried the single serving cups that let you blend right in the cup. It works as good as using the full blender. It demolishes ice without a problem and blends a great smoothy.
