My Gadget Reviews

One of my favorite hobbies is photography.  I joined a site for picture a day (PAD) photographers in July 2004 and am still addicted.  The reason I started was to get more use out of my Canon Powershot S45.  However, I ended up using the camera for a year or so and had to move up to a DSLR.   While the Powershot did take great photos, it lacked the speed of taking several shots in a row like the more expensive cameras.

For me, the hobby is more than taking pretty pictures, it is about seeing and appreciating everything around me.  Get yourself a camera and open up your eyes to the world!

Canon 20D

After using the Powershot for a while, I decided to splurge and add the highly acclaimed Canon 20D.   The camera has more features than I can mention, but  for starters it has an 8.2-megapixel sensor that captures 3504 by 2336 pixel JPEG or RAW images.  What I really like is the ability to take continuous shots because of its built in buffer.

The version of the camera I purchased has a stock lens (Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 Lens).  It takes okay shots, but I would just buy the body and spend the money you save on the Sigma 18-200mm if you are considering a 20D.  The stock lens is not horrible, but it is limited by its 55mm range.  I have not used it once since buying the Sigma.

lenses & Other stuff

To save on download time, I created a page for each of my lenses and my point and shoot camera.

Please note that the lens pages have photos that are just part of my collection.  They were not taken in a scientific manner to highlight the best or worst aspects of each lens.   Also, I may have compressed, sharpened, or edited these shots to get the artistic effect I was looking for.  Your mileage may vary..
